In the Invoice Line Items Display section, you can specify how many numbers users can enter after the decimal for the Rate or Unit line item fields on the General page of an invoice. Setting the number of decimal places for invoice line items is useful for rates or units that use fractions, such as photocopying at $0.055 per page.

The system saves values in one of the following ways:

If users enter values with more decimal places than the system setting, the system rounds the value. See examples 1 and 2 in the Examples of Setting Decimal Places table.

Values an equal distance from the decimal place round down if the value before the 5 is even and up if the value before the 5 is odd. See examples 3 and 4 in the Examples of Setting Decimal Places table.

If users enter values with less decimal places than the system setting, the system adds zeros to the value. See example 5 in the Examples of Setting Decimal Places table.

The following table provides examples of how the system formats values in the Rate and Unit fields.
