Can you join more than two data series in a single report?

Yes more than two data series can be joined in a single report. When creating multiple joins between several data series, it is important to remember that the total number of joins should be equal to one less than the total number of data series being joined.

Do you always have to add a Filter Criteria to a report?

The use of Filter Criteria on a report is not required.  However, depending on the report being created, you will often want to have some level of filter. Without a filter, the report will return all records from that data series, which may be more data than necessary.  For example, on a report of all incomplete tasks grouped by transaction with transaction custom fields, it may be helpful to add a phase filter to the transaction data series. Otherwise, closed transactions would be included in the final report as well.

Can all projects reports be run on any project assignees or only by the main assignee?

Only the main assignee can be included in the final Results Display when using the All Projects data series, but in terms of the filter, other project assignees can be used.

Can child and embedded objects be used in a combined report? Will these same concepts also apply when joining with child and embedded objects?

Yes, child and embedded objects can be used when joining data series. The same concepts apply when using child objects.  Embedded objects will not have an object link attribute so embedded objects will have to be joined to the object link of another data series or joined using a different field.

We will be able to add formulas to Cross-Object reports?

Yes, Cross-Object Reports do support the use of formulas. You will find the option to add a formula within the Results Display Configuration where you specify your join condition and fields for the final Results Display as pictured below.  The formula does not have to be added to the Results Display for the individual data series.

Is there a limit to the number of data series that can be joined in single report?
