There may be a group that you'd like to assign access to work with some custom fields but not all custom fields of a record type. It is recommended to assign rights to view and add the related category. Afterward, you can assign rights to one or more custom fields associated with that category.
In the following example, you can assume that a custom field, Private Investigator (check-box) has been added to the category, Contractor.
After assigning rights above to a group, the following screen views are available to group members:
Contact Record - Categories Page with Contractor Category
Contact Record - Details Page with Private Investigator Custom Field
